It’s already known by most of Hansa Meyer branches and partners worldwide that payments in Brazil are only allowed if in local currency (BRL – Reais).
Due to it, Shipping Lines are used to charge a CAF (Currency Adjustment Fee) on top of all the amounts expressed in foreign currency but payable in Brasil in local currency (BRL).
This CAF can vary from 4% up to 6% – depending on the carrier.
Despite of it, “Late Payment Fee” is effective for all shipments to/from Brasil paid later than 3 days after the Invoice’s or Bill of Lading’s issuance date.
This fee will be equivalent to 2% up to 5% of the total due amount (such as ocean freight; inland; local charges; charges at destination – when applicable) .
In case the payment is still pending after the 30th day of Bill of Lading issuance date, a monthly interest of 2% will be applied / added.
Conditions above are general ones and serve as a guide.
Payment conditions (validity for payment without fees and/or interests + CAF to be considered) must be checked promptly to each business opportunity / quotation / carrier.
Kindly instruct your colleagues / staff properly.
